We take an in depth look at this so called “secret diet pill” to find out more about it.
- None whatsoever
- Misleading advertising claims celebrity endorsement
- Contains ingredients that are potentially dangerous
- Company have a string of customer complaints due to their sales policy
- MetabospeedX is made by Lab88
- Each bottle contains 60 capsules
- Elizabeth Taylor, Oprah Winfrey Julia Roberts and the Desperate Housewives have never taken this supplement despite the advertising
MetabospeedX is made in the USA by New York State based company Lab88 and is just one in their wide range of supplements. MetabospeedX has a glossy advertising style but the company have attracted a whole string of customer complaints around numerous issues plus there are accusations that the celebrity testimonials are fake.
In our celebrity-obsessed culture, nothing says success more than a celebrity endorsement. If this is the sort of thing that appeals to you then MetabospeedX appears to ticks all the right boxes.
According to the advertising, this supplement is a secret Hollywood diet pill that is only available to Hollywood insiders but now has been made available to housewives! Call us cynical but we don’t believe any of this and there is no evidence to support the claims that Elizabeth Taylor and co have even heard of MetabospeedX let alone used it.
So what can you expect from MetabospeedX?
This diet pill contains a range of stimulants that are designed to boost your metabolism and energy levels and the formula contains a mix of Citrus Aurantium, Gurana, Garcinia Cambogia and Green Tea.
According to the advertising, this is designed to promote and support weight loss and increase energy and appetite control.
There are numerous diet pills on the market that use these ingredients and MetabospeedX will deliver stimulant effects that will not be suitable for everyone.
MetabospeedX is manufactured by Lab 88 a supplement company based in New York. Their address is: 385 Pearsall Avenue, 2nd Floor, Cedarhurst, NY 11557
This company does not have a good reputation and has been the subject of a whole range of customer complaints.
According to Better Business Bureau for the Metropolitan New York, Long Island, and the Mid-Hudson Region,
Consumers report to the BBB that they experience difficulty while ordering products from Lab88. Consumers cite a range of issues from non-delivery of orders and cancellation of orders to double charging of credit cards and refunds.

As well as MetabospeedX, Lab88 produce a wide range of supplements, most of which are described as celebrity products. This one caught our eye, a product called Irexis:
The ONLY herbal male sex enhancer you can take with alcohol and still get a rock hard erection.
Sadly, Lab88 did not cite a celebrity endorsement for this one!
The company also market a range of beauty and anti aging products called Beaute de Paris as well as some other weight loss supplements including a Hoodia Patch and Colon Cleanse.
The product website does not give any advice about how and when to take MetabospeedX.
The Serving size is given as 2 capsules so whether you take two capsules just once a day or one capsule twice a day is not revealed.
We advise that if you take this supplement, ensure you do not take too close to bedtime because of the stimulant ingredients.
- Real risk of unpleasant and potentially dangerous side effects
- Poor returns policy and no guarantee
- Lab88 does not appear to be a reputable company
What Does MetabospeedX Claim To Do?
The advertising claims that finally this “is a diet pill that works!” and that MetabospeedX “is what stars use to lose weight fast”.
However, instead of using one of these satisfied celebrities to endorse the product the company advertising has its own poster girl called Sharon. She is described as a “housewife next door in Long Island” and she is available to email for weight loss tips via the MetabospeedX website.
Her before and after pictures look impressive but as the advertising points out her results are not typical. Apparently, Sharon volunteers her time for the Ask Sharon feature without receiving compensation from the company. Perhaps we are supposed to be impressed with this but if it is true, it does not seem right that she works for nothing for Lab88.
So What Is MetabospeedX and What Are The Ingredients For MetabospeedX?
MetabospeedX is a general-purpose diet pill that has a stimulant effect. This may help you reduce your appetite and you may notice increased energy levels. Quantity amounts are per serving of two capsules.
- Bitter Orange Extract 200mg (also known as synephrine or citrus Aurantium): This stimulant raises the heart rate and increases blood pressure. It is believed to stimulate the breakdown of fat and boost the metabolism but there is a lack of clinical evidence to prove this. There is evidence however, that Citrus Aurantium causes heart problems and it should be avoided if you suffer from any heart related health conditions.
Please read our synephrine article
- Guarana Extract 800mg: Gurana beans come from the seeds of a native Brazilian shrub and are a source of caffeine, which helps reduce the appetite. Guarana has higher levels of caffeine than coffee beans and is often used to promote alertness.
Guarana may help promote weight loss when taken in combination with green tea but this ingredient has not been fully investigated and there is a lack of clinical evidence to prove it.
Guarana is not suitable for everyone and can cause interactions with prescription drugs as well as raise heart rate and blood pressure. You should avoid caffeine while taking. Source: WebMD article on Guarana
160mg Proprietary brand containing the following ingredients (amounts not specified):
- Green Tea: Antioxidant rich tea with many health benefits. Better when taken as a natural tea rather than in supplement form.
- Garcinia Cambogia: This South Asian fruit Garcinia Cambogia appears to have some short-term effects for weight loss but it has not been thoroughly tested. Some clinical trials have indicated it performs no better than a placebo. Source: http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jobes/2011/509038/ and our Garcinia Cambogia investigation
- Korean ginseng: Medicinal root with numerous potential benefits to health and a high number of side effects included high blood pressure or low blood pressure. Common ingredient in herbal teas or tisanes but extremely unpredictable effects.
- Bee Pollen: Comes from the pollen that the bees collect and is not the same as honey, honeycomb or royal jelly. Believed to have numerous health benefits.
- White Willow bark: Natural tree found in Europe and North America. The bark is a source of salicylic acid – often used in acne treatment. When taking internally white willow root can cause stomach problems.
- Vanadium: Trace mineral, reported to lower cholesterol and which acts as a natural fat burner and believed to stabilise blood sugar levels. It is believed to prevent food cravings but requires further evidence.

So What Does All This Mean?
You will probably notice the effects of MetabospeedX but not necessarily in a good way. The main ingredients are Guarana and bitter orange extract which could be potentially dangerous for anyone with a heart condition or if you suffer from high blood pressure. The principle ingredient is Guarana – a strong stimulant with numerous side effects and you should certainly avoid caffeine-based drinks while you are taking it.
The proprietary brand contained in the formula also contains ingredients, which are potentially dangerous for health. Ginseng for example has an unpredictable effect, which may raise or reduce blood pressure. There is little evidence that the MetabospeedX will actually help you lose weight.

It made me feel angry, jittery and sick. Do not take it. My hands shook and I could not go to sleep. It is dangerous.

Any MetabospeedX Reviews From Customers?
There aren’t many MetabospeedX customer reviews available. Despite the celebrity profile, this supplement does not appear to be very popular and out of five reviews we could find, four were negative and one was fraudulent.
Don’t try this product unless you like wasting money. It doesn’t do anything
I have taken this product for a month, and have seen no results
Customers have also reported side effects.
There was one favourable review but a quick investigation revealed that the author had posted equally glowing comments for numerous diet pills within a very short space of time and it would have been impossible for him to have taken them all.
So Does MetabospeedX Work?
MetabospeedX is not a safe supplement and it will not help you lose weight. Customers need to remember that the diet pills industry is unregulated and it is no exaggeration to say that some supplements are potentially dangerous. We feel that MetabospeedX falls into this category.
Customer feedback is overriding negative and although there are not many independent testimonials available, they do all say the same thing. Don’t buy it.
Looking at the ingredients profile, we would probably agree with them.
Where Can I Buy MetabospeedX?
You can buy MetabospeedX direct from the product website.
One bottle of MetabospeedX costs $49.99. Each bottle contains 60 capsules and is advertised as a month’s supply.
The company are running what they describe as the “Hollywood Housewife Promotion”. This includes 2 bottles of MetabospeedX (120 capsules) plus a free bottle of another product called colon cleanse for $99.99. Alternatively, you can buy three bottles of MetabospeedX for $99.99.
The company ship free to US addresses.
MetabospeedX is also available via eBay and Amazon. com for the same price.
If you are an international customer, shipping is expensive and slow. According to the MetabospeedX website:
Orders sent outside of the United States cost $39.99 (and up depending on weight) and are generally delivered within 14-30 business days via FedEx International Priority Delivery.
What About A Guarantee?
There is no money back guarantee. In the small print, the website states
We are unable to refund or exchange any open bottles or packages. All unopened products may be exchanged utilizing our 30 Day Money Back Guarantee
However, this 30-day guarantee does not really exist. The company charge a cancellation fee charged due to fees incurred from the credit card merchant account, product warehouse, shipping courier and/or distribution center.
The company do not refund the cost of a product if the customer refuses a package on delivery. There is a $15.00 fee for any order cancelled prior to shipment from the distribution centre.
There have been numerous customer complaints from people who have been unable to return products to Lab88. Even more worryingly, there have been cases where payments have been taken out of customers’ credit card accounts without notification.
We cannot find anything good to say about MetabospeedX or Lab88.
The diet pill is potentially dangerous, the advertising is totally misleading and the company’s sales policy seems extremely tricksy. Added to that it is easier to find a complaint about Lab88 than it is to find a positive comment from a customer.
We would steer clear of this diet pill in favour of other more sound supplements, and so reject MetabospeedX.
