We take a look at Curcovia to find out more about this diet pill and the company behind it.
- Contains Curcuma Comosa, promising health ingredient
- May help if you are menopausal
- Expensive supplement
- Auto billing operated by company
- Unlikely work in the way advertised
- Made by CCL Labs USA
- Each bottle contains 90 capsules or one months supply
- This supplement is also marketed as a cure for menstrual problems, menopause and vaginal tightening
Curcovia is described as an all-natural diet pill that will help you burn off fat round the clock! It is manufactured by CCL Labs USA.
Looking at the official website and Curcovia are marketing this supplement as a diet pill. A quick look round the internet shows that Curcovia is marketed as a treatment for menopausal and menstrual problems.
This is not surprising because the active ingredient Curcuma Comosa is a medicinal plant extract from the ginger family and well known in Asian countries especially Thailand where it has traditionally been used as a treatment following childbirth.
It is also used to treat problems around menstruation, the menopause as well as other gynaecological problems.
Curcuma Comosa is rich in plant oestrogen and this boosts your own oestrogen levels. It is sometimes marketing for vaginal tightening but we had not heard of it for weight loss before.
Curcovia is an unusual supplement because it contains only one ingredient. That much we know. However you are not given much information about how and when to take this supplement or any real information about potential weight loss, side effects or similar.
The bottle label states that for best results, you should take one capsule three times a day before meals.

Curcovia Free Trial
Fallen for a free trial?
Read our Refunds from free trial article for help.
The Curcovia website employs some hard-hitting colourful advertising that leads the customer to sign up for the highlighted “free trial” and the advertised 100% guarantee furthers this impression.
Your eye is drawn to the free trial. Because it seems you don’t need to give your bank details you can then be lulled into believing the free trial comes with no strings attached!
Clicking on the “buy now” button to see the price and contents just leads you back to the “sign up for the free trial” page. The lay out of the website always leads you back to this. There is no option to simply buy this supplement in the usual straightforward way, which we found extremely suspicious.
Once you complete the online address form, you are then taken to a secure page where you can sign up for the “free trial” for only $4.95 shipping costs. This is where you submit your bank details in order to pay for postage.
In fairness to the company, they have provided the links to both these pages but probably secure in the knowledge that not many people will bother reading.
Here are the vital terms. If they were placed more prominently on the website, nobody would ever sign up to this agreement!
By placing your order today you’ll be shipped a 30 day supply of Curcovia (just pay $4.95 S&H).
If you feel Curcovia is not for you, cancel within 14 days from today to avoid the purchase price of up to $79.95 and enrolment in the auto-shipment program.
Forty-five days after you start your trial and every thirty days thereafter, we shall send you a fresh 30-day supply of Curcovia and charge you $79.95. You may cancel at any time by calling Customer Service:

It is very easy to see how so many customers have been caught out by this agreement. We cannot stress enough the importance of reading through terms and conditions when you buy supplements online.
Free offers are rarely free, as many people have found to their cost.
- The advertised Free Trial is not free
- Expensive way of buying a supplement containing just one ingredient
- Lacks independent customer testimonials
What Does Curcovia Claim To Do?
According to the Curcovia advertising, this supplement will help you lose weight “without exercise or diet”.
There are six key features.
- All day Fat Burning
- Formulated for Women
- Fast Acting
- All Natural Ingredients
- Clinically Tested
- No Side Effects
The explanation about how the supplement works is confusing and not easy to understand.
Apparently, when you exercise,
the body produces an excess of estradiol, a form of the estrogen hormone.
This estradiol causes feelings of fatigue and causes the body to react by slowing down its metabolism. However, estrogen can also help us lose weight by limiting the LPL enzyme production that absorbs fat into cells and promotes the HSL enzyme which actually prevents cells from storing fat and expanding in size.
We don’t actually understand what this really means. What are LPL and HSL enzymes for example? If this company is going to offer a technical explanation about the hormones, we should be able to understand it.
According to the website, Curcovia;
can ensure your natural body chemistry is primed for weight loss and not being held back by hormonal imbalances
Curcovia also claim to offer a free trial!
So What Is Curcovia and What Are The Ingredients For Curcovia?
Curcovia is a supplement that claims to help you burn fat by helping your hormones function more efficiently.
This supplement contains just one ingredient.
- Curcuma Comosa Root (450mg): This species of flowering plant in the ginger family is a very useful medicinal plant. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is often used as a traditional medicine after childbirth for bleeding. Curcuma Comosa is often used to treat vaginal problems because it can help tighten the vaginal walls and muscles, repair prolepses and it may help reduce menstrual and menopausal symptoms such as cramps.
There is a wealth of scientific evidence that Curcuma Comosa helps promote oestrogen and this natural plant has many potential health benefits especially for women
For example, there is strong evidence that Curcuma Comosa may be suitable for postmenopausal women suffering from thinning bones due to oestrogen depletion.
Curcuma Comosa may play a role in other associated conditions. It is often an ingredient in vaginal tightening supplements too. Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21762769
The big problem with this ingredient is that there is little evidence that Curcuma Comosa will help with weight loss.
Curcovia claim that scientific evidence proves that it can improve insulin resistance and lipid metabolism but this clinical test was carried out only on oestrogen-deprived rats (they had their ovaries removed).
Although the results were positive (although not for the rats), this ingredient remains untested on humans and requires further testing. Source: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1472-6882/12/28
So What Does All This Mean?
Curcuma Comosa is a natural ingredient that seems to have some positive and proven medical benefits for women. This natural oestrogen can help with a range of conditions but will it really help you lose weight and will it act like a fat burner? It seems unlikely.
The main body of proof for weight loss comes from one clinical trial involving animal experimentation and this does not always transfer to humans.
There is no clinical evidence that we could find, that suggests it will act in the way described by the advertising.
Does Curcovia Have Any Side Effects?
There do not appear to be any negative side effects from taking Curcuma Comosa and therefore this supplement looks safe.
We have been unable to find anyone who has actually taken Curcovia for weight loss so cannot include any real life first hand experiences.
Caution: Avoid if pregnant or breast feeding.
Any Curcovia Reviews From Customers?
We have been unable to find any customer reviews for Curcovia.
So Does Curcovia Work?
We aren’t convinced that Curcovia will work too well for weight loss.
The active ingredient Curcuma Comosa looks good for other conditions and seems to offer a more natural way of getting through the menopause and alleviating menstrual problems but this ingredient cannot be accurately described as a fat burner.
However, weight gain can be related to a lack of oestrogen (see our investigation about weight gain and the menopause) so it may help menopausal women with some of their symptoms.
Where Can I Buy Curcovia?
You cannot buy Curcovia easily. The website, which touts this supplement for weight loss, only offers the so-called “free trial”, and many people have been caught in a hard to cancel billing cycle.
However, you can find Curcovia via other Curcovia sites where it is touted as a cure for “female” problems for $79.95 for 30 days supply of 90 capsules.
If you wanted to try Curcuma Comosa, you may find supplements on sale from Amazon and health food shops.
What About A Guarantee
Although a 100% money back guarantee is advertised, the company provide no further details. We have checked through the terms and conditions and have been unable to find out anything more about it.
Don’t bank on getting any money back! A lot of customers are already extremely angry about being caught by an auto-billing programme. It seems unlikely that this company will honour a guarantee.
Its our opinion that most “free trials” are misleading consumers, so once we saw the trickiness surrounding the free trial and heard about people being trapped into an auto-billing programme we were never going to approve this supplement.
The supplement itself will not work as a fat burner as advertised but the active ingredient does actually look very interesting and appears safe. It may help promote some weight loss and offer some health advantages if you suffer from menstrual problems or are going through the menopause.
However, it is a very expensive way to buy a Curcuma Comosa Supplement.
It seems to us that CCL Labs USA the company behind Curcovia were searching for another marketing angle for their supplement and decided to hit the weight loss market. But it will unlikely work in the way as advertised and this company’s sales policy is misleading regarding the free trial and the guarantee.
For all these reasons, we have no other choice but to reject this supplement.
