Full & Slim Review
Full & Slim Facts
- Full and Slim is produced by a British company located in Pontefract
- You can try it for one day for £5.95
- One month’s supply costs £79.95
Full and Slim has featured in British newspaper the Daily Mail where it was described as a potential alternative to gastric band surgery. It is already on sale from High Street store Boots where it has attracted good customer feedback. This new supplement looks like it is heading for success. The big question is does it work?
Full and Slim is a British made weight loss supplement in the form of a diet drink. It differs from many others on the market because instead of taking as a replacement to a meal, you simply drink it before you eat in order to reduce your appetite.
The active ingredients include Glucomannan a natural fibre (see our Glucomannan article) which swells in the stomach and creates feelings of fullness and L Carnitine an amino acid that may help burn fat in the body.
According to Full and Slim director James Harrington speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail,
The combination of ingredients suppresses appetite and mimics the effects of a gastric band, without undergoing the trauma of invasive surgery
Source: Daily Mail article
This seems a fairly wild claim but not the first time we have heard of it for a supplement containing Glucomannan.
The idea is that this fibre sits in your stomach taking up space so you don’t feel hungry. With gastric band surgery, your stomach is artificially reduced in size thanks to the band so you physically cannot eat too much.
The advertising includes a link to the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) report on Glucomannan (see here) so you can look at this evidence and decide for yourself.
Each serving of Full and Slim comes in an individual sachet so you don’t have to mess about with measuring powder – you just pour it into a glass of water. If you don’t like the idea of taking diet pills, this drink may feel more acceptable and normal than taking a traditional supplement.
Full and Slim comes in a variety of flavours that you buy in a mixed flavour box and includes orange, grapefruit, mango and passion fruit.
How To Take Full & Slim
To use Full & Slim just add one sachet to water, mix and enjoy a light and refreshing naturally flavoured juice drink. Full and Slim can be used anywhere you have a bottle or glass of water.
According to the very limited product information if you use Full and Slim three times a day as part of your diet you may expect you to lose around 2lbs per week.
The Full and Slim company is based in Pontefract Yorkshire and appears to be a new company specially selling this one product. It launched in January 2014 and appears to be very new enterprise.
With this in mind, we just wished that the company had finished off building their product website before launch! The website looks stylish and is appealing at first glance, but at the time of writing we found it hard to navigate and rather clunky to use.
There are also some typos and spelling errors and although we all make them sometimes, it seems very sloppy to allow them onto the front page of a new website advertising a brand new product.
These details spoil the otherwise good impression of the diet drink making it all look a bit amateurish and home made.
Full & Slim Concerns:
- The price! Product comes in some glossy packaging but is this company just trying it on? Not value for money
- New on the market and long term weight loss effects unknown
- No money-back guarantee and so once you buy thats it
What Does Full & Slim Claim To Do?
According to the product website;
The only guaranteed way to lose weight is to consume fewer calories than you burn
Very true and the Full & Slim advertising covers three key points said to help you achieve this easily:
- Full and Slim will help you on the path to eat smaller portions, to stop those between meal snacks and support any exercise plan you are trying to start.
- Easy and natural to use, there is no need to change your diet or cook special meals that the rest of the family won’t eat.
- Full and Slim will support you to lose weight naturally, steadily and sustainably over time, helping you to not only achieve your target weight but to actually keep it off!
According the advertising, Full and Slim will banish hunger pangs and help you achieve sensible steady sustainable weight loss. Accordingly “three glasses a day is all it takes” to lose weight.
So What Is Full & Slim and What Are The Ingredients For Full & Slim?
Full and Slim is a diet drink that you take throughout the day in order to reduce your appetite. It comes in a range of flavours.
We were unable to find the ingredients amounts but you should add a sachet of the mix to at least 250ml of water.
- Glucomannan: This is the principle ingredient of Full and Slim and is a pectin-like, indigestible fiber believed to cause weight-loss. This extract derived from the Konjac root a natural plant which grows in Asia, is well known for its effect upon appetite.
Because the stomach cannot digest Glucomannan, it stays in the gut for a long time and creates a feeling of fullness thus leading to the appetite suppressant effect.
Glucomann has been studied by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) to find if the weight management claims are true.
The report said,
The Panel considers that in order to obtain the claimed effect, at least 3g of Glucomannan should be consumed daily in three doses of at least 1 g each, together with 1-2 glasses of water before meals, in the context of a calorie-restricted diet.
In addition, that;
A claim on Glucomannan and maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations has already been assessed with a favourable outcome.
- L-Carnitine: This amino acid helps the body convert fat into energy. Your body makes this substance in the kidneys and liver and stores it in the muscles, heart and brain.
Taking L Carnitine supplements can be effective for some medical conditions but there is no evidence that it helps with weight loss or boosts exercise performance. Source: http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/carnitine-lcarnitine
- Green tea extract: Green tea is rich in antioxidants with positive benefits for weight loss and health. Contains caffeine. Reports have shown that green tea extract intake is associated with increased weight loss due to stimulating thermogenesis. Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17201629
- Natural Flavours: Natural juice flavours including orange grapefruit and passion fruit.
So What Does All This Mean?
Full and Slim contains ingredients that may help you lose weight and reduce your appetite. According to the EFSA, Glucomannan may help reduce cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels as well as reduce your appetite.
Green tea and L Carnitine can be beneficial for health and weight loss. The servings recommended by EFSA are the same directions given by Full and Slim and are to take three times a day with water.
We think this supplement looks pretty good and in addition, it is unlikely to cause any unpleasant side effects.
Does Full & Slim Have Any Side Effects?
Unlikely, but you will have to be careful if you are taking medication (including contraceptive pill) because Glucomannan can absorb substances in the stomach and intestines. You should ask your doctor for advice about this but in general taking medication an hour before you take the drink may solve this problem.
Full and Slim is new on the market so only has limited number of customer reviews. However, nobody has reported side effects beyond visiting the bathroom more than usual.
Caution: Avoid if pregnant or breast-feeding. If you suffer from diabetes, seek the advice of your doctor beforehand because it may affect your blood sugar levels and therefore your diabetes medication.
Ask advice from your doctor if you are taking any other medication to ensure that this is not absorbed by the diet drink.
Warning: Glucomannan has been linked in rare occasions to choking and intestinal blockages but this has usually happened when taken in tablet form. Drinking plenty of water as well as the diet drink should prevent this.
Any Full & Slim Reviews From Customers?
Yes, and they are mainly positive.
One customer reported
I now eat 3 times a day and don’t snack between meals; I have been losing weight for the last three weeks and feel so much better. It really makes me think about how I eat.
Does what it says mix at least 15mins before food, and it does keep you full. I lost 9lb already
Not everyone is as pleased and there are a couple of negative comments;
Sorry to have to say this, but felt nothing on taking. Tried it for a week, and just ended up having to visit the toilet more.
The Sachets are easy to take but had no feeling of fullness that I wouldn’t have got with a glass of water
Some other customers have reported the same lack of effects.
So Does Full & Slim Work?
Despite some negative comments, Yes, we think it does work a bit but it is very early days for this supplement.
There is extremely limited customer feedback available (mostly via Boots) so it is hard to gauge the real effects. However, the clinical evidence suggests that Glucomannan the principle ingredient may reduce cholesterol and blood sugar levels and it is well known for its appetite suppressing effects.
Where Can I Buy Full & Slim?
You can buy Full and Slim via the product website and it is also available from Amazon.
Despite the promising reviews left on the Boots website it is currently out of stock and it is unknown whether or not Boots just gave the company a product trial (and have withdrawn it now) or if it is to be permanently on sale by this major retail outlet.
Full and Slim is very expensive. It comes in some glossy packaging but the price is astronomical.
You can buy a trial pack from the website for one days supply (three sachets) for £5.95. In addition:
- 1 box of 21 sachets (1 weeks supply) costs £28.95
- 2 boxes (42 sachets and 2 weeks supply) costs £49.90
- 3 boxes (63 sachets and 3 weeks supply) costs £64.95

Shipping costs are not specified.

Full and Slim is not currently available outside the UK
What About A Guarantee
Full and Slim do not offer a money back guarantee.
There is a lot we like about Full and Slim. We like the concept of taking a diet drink instead of a supplement in pill form and we like the absence of stimulant side effects. This supplement looks safe and we think it may well help you achieve some weight loss.
The major stumbling block is this supplement’s price. It is far too expensive and spending £79.95 a month is just too much for anyone. It is good but not that good and comes with no guarantees that it will even work.
We are disappointed with Full and Slim. Had the price been more reasonable we certainly would have approved it as being worth a try. However, at the end of the day we just don’t think it is worth the expense and feel that most customers will have the same opinion.
Unless the company review their pricing structure, we cannot see this supplement taking off.
