What Does Maximuscle Thermobol Claim To Do?

Thermobol is Maximuscle’s most popular weight loss supplement that…

Supports weight loss, definition and helps maintain a health metabolism

It does this by using…

ingredients have been proven in research to help mobilise and burn fat and help to increase fat loss when used alongside a sensible diet and exercise programme.

Thermobol not only helps to boost alertness and mental focus but contains a metabolic formula to help you achieve muscular definition.

So What Is Maximuscle Thermobol and What Are The Ingredients For Maximuscle Thermobol?

Consumers really need to be aware the high caffeine content. Maximuscle make no secret of the fact that it contains a fair amount of caffeine; in fact the full serving is 444mg of caffeine per day.

The ingredient list is not for the faint-hearted. What you normally see in a daily serving in most other diet pills you get in just one Thermobol tablet!

This means that the ingredients are certainly potent and consequently could be too strong for some people.

The ingredient amounts listed below are for 1 capsule only. So you should be aware that the recommended daily consumption is 3 times the amounts listed below:

  • Bitter Orange Peel (325mg): Also known as Citrus Aurantium and becoming one of the most popular weight loss ingredients to be seen in diet pills. It’s suggested to be as effective as ephedrine for boosting metabolism and suppressing appetite.
  • L-Tyrosine (300mg): A non-essential amino acid l-tyrosine has had a number of claims behind it for helping with weight loss. Suggested to help in suppressing appetite and works to promote healthy thyroid function and improved, more efficient metabolism. It is said to work better when taken with certain B vitamins, which may explain the use of them in this product.
  • Caffeine (148mg): A number of studies have found caffeine to improve alertness and to aid sports performance. Other benefits have been suggested to be boosting metabolism and suppressing appetite. The amounts here are fairly high, especially per day so we would exercise caution if stimulants affect you negatively.
  • Green Tea extract (100mg): Another ingredient shown to promote increases in metabolism in sufficient amounts. There may be too little in here to really promote thermogenosis though as studies have shown over 400mg to be effective.
  • Guarana Seed power (12mg): Said to contain a stronger acting form of caffeine albeit in smaller quantities that is released slowly to give sustained energy.
  • Bioperine (5mg): Also know as Black Pepper extract. Helps to increase the rate of absorption of nutrients taken at the same time by up to 3 times.
  • Chromium (67µg): Although popular in many diet pills its effectiveness has been questioned in a study that looked at varying amounts from 200 to 1,000mg a day, finding no significant benefits to body mass or composition.
  • Cayenne extract (0.1mg): Studies have suggested when consumed in the correct amounts can increase body temperature helping to boost metabolism, leading to more calories being burnt. It’s unlikely they will have much effect in here though as the amounts are tiny.
  • Selection of B Vitamins (B1, B5, B7, B12): Found in the recommended daily amounts and said to help with fat metabolism, energy in the body and work at the cellular level in the body.

So What Does All This Mean?

This supplement contains many of the essential B vitamins with lots of caffeine and ingredients seen in weight loss products.

The big difference though with Thermobol is the ingredient amounts. The daily serving size means you get potent amounts that should really help promote fat burning. This does come at a cost in that for some consumers it simply could be too much and the side effects outweigh the benefits.

Does Maximuscle Thermobol Have Any Side Effects?

Maximuscle clearly state that Thermobol contains a lot of caffeine. So you should probably avoid consuming additional caffeine whilst taking this supplement to avoid overdosing on caffeine.

Some consumers may find they suffer from jittery sensations, anxiety, insomnia, upset stomach and increased heart rate. If you suffer from any pre-existing medical conditions we would suggest speaking to your medical GP prior to taking this supplement.

Caution: This product does contain a lot of caffeine per serving of 3 capsules. If you’re sensitive to stimulants, especially caffeine, then this supplement may not be for you.

Any Maximuscle Thermobol Reviews From Customers?

There are lots of consumer reviews for Thermobol both on the official MaxiMuscle website and on At the time of writing this review 81 customers have reviewed Thermobol on Amazon giving it an overall rating of 3.4 out of 5 stars.

Maximuscle Thermobol Amazon feedback

Whilst 60% of consumers were happy giving it 4 or more stars, clearly not everyone was satisfied as 20 consumers gave it a very poor 1 star. Most of the negative feedback relates to the high caffeine content and the possible associated side effects.

A recent report by a satisfied consumer reads..

This is by far the most intense energy pill I have ever taken. I am literally “wired” and jumping off the walls with energy within 20 minutes of taking this product. So, when taking this supplement…expect an insane amount of energy but also be prepared for the dreaded come down about 4-5 hours after taking.

So Does Maximuscle Thermobol Work?

Unlike many diet supplements, Thermobol contains potent ingredients in high amounts. Clearly the caffeine content is responsible for boosting alertness and concentration.

When used with a healthy diet plan and regular training programme that includes intense exercise, Thermobol should help to shift stubborn fat.

Consumers have testified to this supplement working although a fair number have reported some associated side effects.

Where Can I Buy Maximuscle Thermobol?

The obvious place to buy Thermobol is from the official Maxishop website that stock 90 capsules for £36.99 with free delivery. Purchasing through the official site means there is a money-back guarantee (see below) and that you can accrue MaxiRewards, which give you discounts on future purchases.

Thermobol is available on the high street at varying prices, so it may be worth shopping around.

What About a Guarantee?

There is a 40-day money-back guarantee but there are conditions.

Firstly you are required to use the product for 30 days as instructed whilst eating a healthy diet and sensible training programme. After which time you can send the original packaging with information on your training programme and meal plans for Maximuscle to review whether a full refund applies.

In terms of the refund itself they are based on the amount of the product used and so it’s unlikely that a full refund will be issued, especially considering you’re required to use the product for 30 days!

Watchdog Verdict

There is no denying that Thermobol is a high caffeine supplement that won’t agree with everyone. Those who can handle the high amount of stimulants have reported success whilst using it.

Manufactured by a reputable company, Maximuscle have a strong offline and online brand, they have a money-back guarantee and have customer support second to none. Consumers should be aware of the conditions associated with the money-back guarantee mentioned above though.

If you’re looking for a supplement that works in unison with your training, then Maximuscle’s Thermobol could be for you.

      Hi Kath,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
Supplements can certainly help alongside a healthy diet and some exercise, so we would still suggest continuing this approach. We would maybe recommend one of the other supplements to start with as Thermobol is fairly strong with a fair amount of caffeine.
BEFORE purchasing though, please do check with your medical GP as any reputable supplement should suggest seeking medical advice if you’re taking any medication or have any pre-existing medical condition.
Please let us know how you get on.

I’m a used to be a fitness trainer and have 30yrs experince.
Weight lose is not hard, you just have to stick to your program, which can be a bit tricky
The golden rule is eat less and do more exercise. that’s all there is to it.

In practical terms this means, eating three meals a day, no more and nothing between meals and doing some sort of exercise a minimum of 3 times per week. The best way to do this is join a gym generally, you’ll be instructed properly and it will ensure you do wide variation of exercise.
The best sort of food to eat is healthy veg and non processed natural foods, try and substitute some of poorer foods you eat for high fiber foods, for example All Bran cereal is a god start, followed by a jacket spud with tuna for lunch. Have a low fat meal for dinner and eat nothing after 6pm.
If you follow these general guide lines you can not fail to lose bodyfat.
Be honest with yourself about your calorie consumption, is it really that low.

Weight loss is 70% diet and 30 exercise, the exercise helps hold on muscle while dieting and is vital for fat loss, not weight loss.

You basically got to put the effort in and change you current life style to make changes to your body, without the lifestyle changes it worth work

      Good luck

    • FitnessGuru says:

      Hello Lynn

Congratulations on your weight loss! They are effective at aiding weight loss, the only thing I would include in your recommendation is a balanced diet. This can mean the difference between success and failure with these suppliments.

this product looks great, but as I am a vegetarian I was wondering if it was suitable for me as many diet pills contain a gelatine capsule which comes from bovine sources :) thank you

    • Chris says:

  6. JBB says:

The fear with diet pills for me are if you will gain back he weight and more once you’ve stopped as your metabolism will slow down. Do you think this product is the same?

    • FitnessGuru says:

      Hello JBB

This is not a diet pill as such. It is a suppliment to assist with increasing ones metabolic rate, which assists with digestion, energy consumption and muscle recovery. These suppliments are NOT intended to be used as a long-term solution for a slow metabolic rate. If you have any questions regarding your metabolism, you would be better off consulting a physician.

  7. GM says:

I don’t want this to come across as rude, arrogant or ignorant but the last two comments are rather silly. They are not diet tablets. The are supplements that ‘supplement’ a well balanced diet and exercise.
Diet plays the biggest part in an weight loss. exercise burns calories and speeds up metabolism.

Really clear message to those overweight and wanting to lose a few pounds- or more. (Ive been there). Burn more calories than you eat…simple.
Don’t ‘Diet’ as ultimately a diet is a short term solution to something much bigger. Health eating and well being lifestyle will lose the weight and keep it off.

    Hi there,

Do these have any affect on contraceptive pills?

    • FitnessGuru says:

From information sourced online, I cannot see any reason why these would have any interaction with contraceptive pills. I would be mindful of the caffeine content when using other medicines and always consult your doctor or physician before using them if you have any doubts.

  9. hk says:

Same question as above, does this effect the contraceptive pill?

    • FitnessGuru says:

  10. Mark Johnson says:

Bought a bottle of these supplements about 3 weeks ago. The only noticeable positive effect was a slight warming of the chest. The negative effects were numerous to say the least. Chronic Fatigue, lack of energy, no Stimulus effect at all. There was no boost, the exact opposite effect in reality. Three of the worst workouts of my life. I walked away from the gym disgusted. Stopped taking the tablets for several days and returned to normal, started again and within two days feeling terrible again. In addition to this the only pounds lost are from the cost of this worthless product. I cannot recommend.

    • Watchdog Staff says:

Thanks Mark for taking the time to write your feedback here. Its very rare we get bad reports from this particular supplement. How are others finding it?

I have been taking thermabols for about a week and half now and have been using promax diet in conjunction. I have 2 shakes a day one for breakfast and one straight after training… with this i have one meal a day that comes to roughly 500 calories. I do weight and strength training 5 days a week. In a week and half I have lost 12 lbs. Don’t know what of the 3 has led to such a quick loss but thermabols definitely give me the energy and buzz I need to train day in day out. I would recommend the product

        • FitnessGuru says:

I see a lot of people posting information about their workout/diet routines on this site and to be perfectly honest, when it comes to thermobols, it seems a lot of people are going about this the wrong way. I’ll break it down.

Thermobols contain a high amount of caffeine and other substances that would not usually be consumed by the average man or woman. The reason they are included in thermobols is because they are used as energy catalysts to stimulate the muscles, brain and nervous system. Some people, when using thermobols, have reported dizziness and restlessness. I can say with 100% certainty that these are side effects associated with caffeine consumption in people sensitive to caffeine. You may not realise it, but if you experience either of these effects, you should probably reconsider when using thermobols.

People are always looking for a “fad pill” to burn fat and lose weight. The simple answer on how to lose weight is just to simply control what you put into your body and control what you do with your time at the gym or during your exercise periods. Going to the gym for hours at a time for several days a week, is not always the best way of getting in shape.

The most reliable way to exercise is to use short, concentrated time frames in which you go above and beyond what you would usually do during a period of exercise. The reason for this is simple, very high impact cardio or weight training can increase muscle endurance on a long term basis. Going to the gym and putting in a 30 minute cycle, followed by a 30 minute hill climb, finished off with a 30 minute cross training session and some weights is possibly the easiest way to burn absolutely all of your days energy in two hours. The best way to exercise is to take 50minutes to 1 hour of extremely intense exercise, focusing on between one to three specific areas at a time to maximise your output.

          A recommendation is below:

          - Cross training combined with weight training
          - High intensity cardio (running) combined with aerobic stretching and counterweight exercises
          - Sports exercise (wrestling, football or soccer, circuit training)

  11. Rob says:

I’ve just started using thermobol – I haven’t noticed any major side effects as of yet; however, I noticed I did sweat a lot more throughout my workout last night, probably why many reviews state a significant weight loss within the first couple of weeks – a loss of water weight I would presume.
I plan on doing a cycle of one month off, one month on.
I’ll try and update when I’ve finished the first cycle.

    • FitnessGuru says:

      Hi Rob

The reason for this is that the substances contained in thermobols act as energy catalysts to raise your core temperature. I would advise consuming foods that contain binding chemicals such as potassium, magnesium and bananas.

A good way to do this is with health shakes:

      - Scoop of protein powder
      - Chia/sunflower seeds
      - Sliced banana
      - Mixed berries
      - Water

Use this with a blender at home to make a tasty, nutritious shake!

  12. Christy says:

Hi do these effect the contraceptive pill in anyway?

  13. Tracy says:

Hi I am a 33yr old women with 4 kids I have curves but it started to look loose and disgusting so I started of by going to gym and eating a calorie controlled diet it worked at first but I noticed that I wasn’t loosing anymore weight so I decided to take thermobols I have been on them for 2-3 weeks now and I’m pleased with the results I am achieving I still go to gym and count my calories and have noticed a good deal of weight loss! My clothes aren’t as tight and my curves look more women like so I would be happy to recommend this product! I also don’t have any side effects apart from sweating a little more and constantly thirsty :)

  14. Sharon May says:

Hia I would like to know do i only take these tables on the days I exercise.
And also when I take these tablets I find within 30mins of taking them my breathing changes I have to try and take deeper breaths and when I start exercising my breathing is worse is this a side effect.

  15. Stephen says:

I was just wondering, I currently use Matrix Anabolic Gold Protein and Creatine… Would using Thermobol alongside these supplements be okay to help aid my fat / weight loss goals?

    • FitnessGuru says:

      Hello Stephen

As most whey powder mixes do not contain any caffeine and creatine is a naturally sourced energy extract, I cannot see any reason why a thermobolic energy source would interact with the other chemicals in any way.

The only recommendation I would make is add more binding chemicals to your diet such as manganese, magnesium and potassium. Two of these chemicals can be found in bananas.

  16. Tomas says:

I was looking for a bit more detailed explanation before, but found only “works fine”,”does the job” etc. But no explanation on the nutrition, workouts and calorie consumption during the day, that might affect the weight as well. So, to be fair, here’s what I’m doing and my goals. I hope it helps.

Main goal, shed the fat and tone muscles. Once the goal weight is reached, I will then decide on whether to build more muscle mass, or maintain the final result.

I am currently using Maximuscle Thermobol, for almost 2 weeks now. I can say that the effect is interesting indeed. You can really feel the caffeine effect, so I can only advice to use the first tablet at around 07:00-08:00, then every 4 hours, last one – not later than 16:00, as you might feel that when you’re trying to sleep. Start weight 92kg(09/06/2014); target 85kg by 25 of August, then 80kg by November.
Lost 2,5kg the first week, obviously it will be much slower afterwards.

I am indeed sweating a lot more during the cardio exercises (ridiculously actually), and I do want to do somewhat more reps during the workout routine. No hunger effects(by the pills anyway), but I might increase the calorie consumption if I feel weaker (to boost BMR) . I am on 11 week “dumbbell” program, starting BMI 27,5, BMR based on my activity level 2785 kcal (recommended), but I’m using only 2200-2300 (400-500 deficit) kcal a day though + Thermobol. I drink around 3l-3.5 litres of water a day
Protein consumption 160-180g a day, with enough Carbs to fuel the desire to feel energized.
Mon-Wed-Fri workout, not longer than 55min. (Legs and shoulders + abs -/ Chest and back + abs / Arms + abs
    Mon to Fri cardio 30-45min
Rest on Sat-Sun, + cheat-meal up to 1000 kcal on Saturday.
Start weight 92kg; target 85kg by 25 of August, then 80kg by November. Lost 2,5kg the first week,
So I will post the final review of this product at the end of the program.

Hi have just purchased these tablets as my brother has had good results but I’m on Levothyroxine for an under active thyroid would they be ok to use I know I should ask the doctor but they will probably be negative. Do you know anyone who has taken the tablets that are taking this drug as it is quite common.

    • nikibumbicki says:

There’s something in these tablets to make your thyroid over act I think so I’d definitely check with your doctor first.

  18. Rachelle says:

Do these pills make your body temp rise?

  19. Nisar Khan says:

Hi just a quick question, i normally take green coffee bean extract 5000mg its from holland and barrettes. I was wondering would it be safe to take the 3 tablets of thermabol whilst Already taking the green coffee bean extract pills? The ingredients of 1 green coffee bean pill is -
    Green Coffee (20:1 Extract) 250mg
    Whole Green Coffee Equivalent 500mg
    Chlorogenic Acid 50mg
    Caffeic Acid 50mg
I take the stipulated dose which is 3 pills. So its those figures multiplied by 3

    • nikibumbicki says:

The recommended daily dose of caffeine is 300mg in 3 of the thermobol there’s nearly 40th so I wouldn’t take them with the other tablets I’m not a trained fitness instructor or anything I’ve just started taking them and have done my research :)

      • FitnessGuru says:

        Hello Nisar

As nikibumbicki has stated, it would be ill-advised to take thermobol tablets with any other suppliments that contain a high dosage of caffeine.

  20. Rachael says:

Hello, can you take thermos while breastfeeding ?
    Thank you

    • FitnessGuru says:

      Hello Rachael

I would not advise using thermobols while nursing. It may be possible to use ketones instead to aid fat loss. I would consult with your doctor or physician before proceeding however.

  21. Sheila says:

I’ve only recently started to take Thermobol. I haven’t noticed much difference yet. I also take the pill and thyroid tablets and am wondering if these will affect this?

  22. Stefano says:

I’m looking to use Thermob and am looking for some advice. I am 25, healthy, regularly exercise and am looking to lose a few pre-Xmas kgs. I regularly go spinning in the morning and really push myself. I am wondering if there are any potential dangers in taking thermobol right before an intense spin class? Thank you.

    • Chris says:

      Hi Stefano,

You probably won’t read this, as you posted a few months ago, but I personally would really recommend NOT taking it prior to any form of truly intense cardio. This is because bitter green orange peel, which is the main active ingredient in Thermobol, constricts your blood vessels, which makes your heart have to work harder/beat faster.

If there is a heart beat monitor on your bike, which I know most bikes have, then it is just about passable, but you must be careful not to let your heartbeat exceed 180 beats or so, or you risk a heart attack.

  23. Karina says:

Just wondering how long you should leave it before you eat after taking these on an empty stomach!? Thanks

  24. UnknownImp says:

Product does not seem to be available, out of stock or so the site says.

  25. Martin says:

I have just bought Maximuscle Thermobol, I am happy with my weight of 13 stone, and I workout most evenings in the gym. I have noticed that I have got a lot of fat in my skin around my stomach, and it looks like an old mans stomach I have tried running, sit ups and it still wont go away. Will Maximuscle Thermobol help shift this from my stomach?

    • Chris says:

      Hi Martin,

Yes, it will definitely help. The main thing is, you need to keep your diet in check, and Thermobol will help suppress appetite, as well as increasing your metabolism by a small amount, and also, in theory at least, give you extra energy to work harder in the gym!

It’s all about calories in vs calories out, and balancing your macros (protein/fats/carbs). You need to work out roughly how many calories you’re using a day, and then eat at a caloric deficit. There are plenty of websites online which will give you a rough diet plan, free of charge, and an idea of how to work out how many calories you need. Just search on google.

  26. Chris says:

Firstly, as someone who is into fitness and has tried various fat burning supplements in the past (though in my experience, will power and dedication are the best fat burners available), I have found your site extremely interesting and well-presented.

This article troubles me, however, as this product contains Bitter Orange Peel and you do not have a negative word to say about it. However, on your ‘Grenade Thermo Detonator’ review, you slate Bitter Orange Peel and state it is relatively dangerous. This is a quote taken directly from your review :

“Despite Grenade’s assurances that this ingredient is safe, we feel that you should err on the side of caution. There is a lot of evidence that shows that bitter orange is linked with potentially dangerous side effects and is it really worth taking a risk with your health in order to increase your fitness?”

I would add, I have taken both Thermobol and Grenades, and though I must agree Grenades pack a bit more of a punch, they are both extremely similar. I agree with your latest article (I appreciate there was a 1.5 year time gap between the 2 articles, so your opinions may have changed), that Bitter Orange Peel is unsafe.

I found myself extremely on edge and unnaturally anxious, pretty much all throughout the day. Of course, this is only anecdotal, but I would say that I know several people who have taken Grenades/Bitter Orange Peel, and though everyone I’ve spoken to agrees it is no doubt very effective, it is a pretty uncomfortable experience.

Nevertheless, it does worry me as to this sites supposed advertised impartiality, when there are two extremely similar products, and one is given a highly flattering review, whilst the other is chastised.

    Thank you.
