We all want to lose weight easily and fast, so a new miracle cactus product is always going to attract attention.
Medoslim contains Prickly Pear and is classified as a class 2 A medical device by the medicine and healthcare products association (MHRA). This is an executive agency, which comes under the Dept of Health in the UK.
Medoslim is a fat binder product that may help you lose weight and if you generally include lot of fat in your diet, it may be just what you are looking for.
Fat binders work in a simple way. Their high fibre content binds to dietary fats in the gut, making them too big to be absorbed and digested by your body. By attracting fats in this way, they remain unabsorbed and pass through your body via your bowel motions, rather than adding to your body fat.
According to the Medoslim information, you can expect to reduce 36% of your dietary fat intake. However, it will not work to reduce your carbohydrate s or dietary sugars but the fibre content of the tablets may help reduce your appetite slightly, which is another point in its favour.
Fat binders can be effective but you should not expect dramatic results. In general, you can expect a slow and modest weight loss of no more than a pound or two a week when you combine the tablets with a healthy diet and exercise programme.
Medoslim is marketed by Towerhealth an independent British company based in Nottingham UK and owned by Medi-Direct Ltd.
The company sell a whole range of health and dietary supplements including Salitair- natural salt therapy for asthma sufferers featured on ITV show This Morning by the show’s doctor, Dr Chris Steele.
In addition, Towerhealth provide herbal supplements such as muscle and joint gel, allergy treatments, mini hearing aids, e cigarettes and much more.
The company do not specialise in weight loss products. Instead, Medoslim is described as a way to get healthy that may help you avoid diabetes type 2.
How to Taken Medoslim
To take Medoslim you first need to calculate your BMI and then take your daily dose accordingly.
If you have a BMI up to 18.5, you are advised to take 1 tablet a day for weight maintenance and 2 tablets for weight loss.
We are a little concerned with this advice because BMI of up to 18.5 is classified as underweight!
BMI 18.5 – 24.9 (classified as normal) you are advised to take 1 tablet twice a day for weight maintenance and 2 tablets twice a day for weight loss.
BMI 25 – 29.9 (classified as overweight) 2 tablets twice a day for weight maintenance and 3 tablets once a day for weight loss
BMI 29.9 + (Obese) take 2 tablets 3 times a day for weight maintenance and 3 tablets 3 times a day for weight loss.
Medoslim contains only one active ingredient, the Paw Paw or Prickly Pear fruit which grows on the Opuntia Ficus-Indica. This cactus plant, believed to have originated from Mexico, is distinctive by its typical cactus shape, spiny leaves and fruit, which also contains sharp needle like quills.
The only way to eat this fruit in its natural form is to knock the fruit off the plant with a stick and then roll it on the ground to release the sharp quills.
We do not often pass on survival tips on Diet Pills Watchdog but if you are ever marooned in a desert, the Paw Paw is a delicious although fiddly fruit to prepare! Beware, eating the seeds can cause constipation, without the seeds it has a laxative effect.
- Unclear if Medoslim is made by Towerhealth or whether it is manufactured in Switzerland or Sweden
- Short guarantee – you will have to make up your mind fast to qualify for refund
- Will this supplement really help you lose weight long term?

There are some puzzling statements on the product website. According to the text,
Medoslim is the weight loss revolution from Sweden
but we have been unable to find out any more details about this. In addition, it is described as the;
The No.1 weight loss product from Swiss Beauty.
We were unable to find out anything about a company called Swiss Beauty despite extensive research. According to the Towerhealth information all their products are “NHS Trusted For 10 Years” as well as the company;
Forging relationships with key health care professionals including the NHS and private hospitals and general practitioners, with whom we also develop studies and reports on Tower Health’s new development
So What Is Medoslim and What Are The Ingredients For Medoslim?
Medoslim is a fat binder, which may also help to suppress your appetite. It contains one active ingredient – Opuntia ficus-indica also known as the Prickly Pear fruit (also called Paw Paw, Barbary Fig or Cactus Pear).
Although the Medoslim brand does not seem to have been clinically tested, a natural fibre complex derived from Opuntia Ficus-Indica (Litramine IQP G-002AS)) was tested on 125 overweight and obese individuals to see if this ingredient could reduce dietary fat absorption through gastrointestinal (GI) fat binding.
Results were promising. After 12 weeks of testing, the participants lost at least 5% of their initial body weight compared to the placebo group. The test group also;
showed significantly greater reduction in BMI, body fat composition, and waist circumference.
So What Does All This Mean?
According to this one clinical trial of the active ingredient in another supplement Medoslim may also be effective as a fat binder and may help you lose weight. We like that the supplement seems safe and does not appear to cause dangerous side effects.
However, one test does not prove that it will necessarily work for everyone and we do not know the dosage details of the clinical test or the contents of the Medoslim tablets.
It also suggests that to get any effect from Prickly Pear you need to take it over a period of months rather than weeks.
We cannot help thinking that changing your diet to remove some of your dietary fats before you eat them might be more effective than eating a high fat diet and using a supplement to remove the evidence.
Does Medoslim Have Any Side Effects?
Fat binders can affect your digestive system and Medoslim may increase your bowel movements. Prickly pear has a laxative effect and you may also experience mild, nausea, bloating, and headaches. Prickly Pear may lower blood sugar levels.
Caution: You should avoid if pregnant or breast-feeding standard advice for all supplements. If you suffer from diabetes, you should visit your doctor beforehand because your blood sugar medication may need adjusting. Be careful if you are diabetic because taking prickly pear can increase the incidence of hypos so you will need to monitor your blood sugar levels very carefully.
Any Medoslim Reviews From Customers?
Despite the fact that Medoslim is available on Amazon in both the UK and USA as well as being on sale in various countries via eBay, we have yet to see one independent review.
The Towerhealth website includes some positive customer reviews but the Watchdog policy is to show only truly unbiased customer feedback.
So Does Medoslim Work?
Yes, we think it probably does work a bit but weight loss is likely to be very modest. It may be worth a try if you struggle with eating dietary fat but it will not prevent your carb intake from adding to weight.
The other problem is that it is such a long-term solution. It seems that it will only work while you are taking the tablets and once you have finished, your modest weight losses will probably disappear. Changing your diet to reduce dietary fat is a more sustainable option.

Medoslim is OK but it is not great. The high price and the lack of independent feedback has put us off and although we do believe this diet pill will work to a certain extent, it seems likely that any weight loss will be modest – this is a criticism of fat binders in general.
We like the fact that it is stimulant free and we love the lack of dangerous side effects. The problem is that we do not love it enough to recommend it.
We have certainly seen a lot worse but we have seen better too. At the end of the day, Medoslim is just not good enough to make it onto the approved list.
