PhenApex Facts

  • Made in Utah by GS Labs
  • Company does not appear to be linked with other Utah based companies
  • Each bottle of PhenApex contains 60 tablets

PhenApex is marketed by GS Labs a diet supplement company based in Utah. This comes as no surprised because Utah is home to over 130 dietary supplement companies and supplements are Utah’s third biggest industry.

Utah does not necessarily mean scam just because a few dodgy companies are based there. We find out more about PhenApex and whether this diet supplement is worth a try and whether you can trust the company not to rip you off.

It wasn’t really GS Labs fault but they certainly should have known! They decide to market a supplement called Phentarmine and some consumers think they are buying a genuine weight loss drug! With just one different letter in the spelling it seems GS Labs homage to this prescription drug went too far.

Whether this misunderstanding was intentional we can’t possibly say but it has caused GS Labs to be listed on scambook – an online consumer complaints website and they have received a deluge of customer complaints.

We can’t help feeling that this choice of name was ill judged if the company really didn’t expect people to mix up the name. We also feel that the dissatisfied customers are actually guilty of attempting to buy an illegal substance on line.

Drawing a line under all that, not all GS Labs diet supplements reference to prescription weight loss drugs. As well as PhenApex, they also sell Accelorex and Maqui Berry Lean diet pills.

GS Labs are based at
36 Merchant Street
American Fork UT 84003-6168

PhenApex is an appetite suppressant combined with a fat burner and is advertised as a “#1 prescription weight loss alternative”. This is a bit misleading because this is not a prescription diet pill and this statement is intended to give the impression that PhenApex is similar to other drug brand names.

It can cause long-term damage to the heart valves as well as the immediate risk of a long list of side effects and drug interactions. It is an offence to attempt to buy weight loss drugs because it is classified as a Schedule IV controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act.

The contents of PhenApex are also a matter for concern. PhenApex contains stimulants including Synephrine and L Phenylanine, which can cause side effects and increase the heart rate and blood pressure so this supplement will not be suitable for everyone.

The PhenApex website employs a standard looking diet pill advertising style. There is the obligatory skinny model in a bikini and lots of banners proclaiming “Low Price Guarantee” and “Hurry Limited Stocks Remain”.

However there are no instructions about how to take PhenApex or any warnings about potential side effects.

Customers have been asking each other for advice on the Amazon website about how and when to take the tablets but this vital information is not provided by the PhenApex website. The company have not answered the questions either.

The website is lacking in information generally. There is no ingredients list and although the product information names some of the ingredients, these are given without their quantities. There is said to be 530mg contained in each tablet but this figure is not broken down.

In addition, it is possible that there are other ingredients contained in this pill, which are not mentioned so we are concerned about the safety issues around this supplement.

PhenApex Concerns

  • The inadequate ingredients information
  • Customers have complained the tablets are hard to swallow
  • Side effects, some potentially serious

What Does PhenApex Claim To Do?

PhenApex claims to maximise your weight loss and offers four key features.

  • Suppress Appetite and Cravings
  • Burn More Fat
  • No More Doctor Visits
  • No More Embarrassing Weigh Ins

Using PhenApex will help you “Lose Weight & Get Sexy Boost Your Confidence.”

We are not sure what the advertising is saying here re the No More Doctor Visits and according to some consumers, they have had to seek medical advice following using this supplement.

In addition, the small print states;

We recommend consulting a physician before starting any diet or weight-loss program.

Shame, they wrote this advice in such tiny lettering and put it on the foot of the page where no one could see it.

So What Is PhenApex and What Are The Ingredients For PhenApex?

PhenApex is a fat burner combined with an appetite suppressant that is claiming to be a viable alternative to a prescription drug.

The company do not provide a full ingredients list and not even a photo of the label. This means you really will have no idea what is in this supplement and the quantities of the named ingredients.

Each tablet contains 530mg of the formula.

  • L Phenylalanine: An amino acid, which is found in protein such as meat, dairy products and fish. There is no evidence that it is effective for weight loss and although it was one believed effective for treating depression it requires further testing.
L Phenylanine can cause a rise in blood pressure and although the body appears to use Phenylanine as a chemical messenger it is not fully understood how it works.
It is potentially dangerous to take L Phenylalanine supplements during pregnancy because it is linked with birth defects. Source: WebMD Phenylanine article
  • Synephrine HCL: A potentially dangerous chemical that is often included in diet supplements because it acts in a similar way to other banned substances.
It increases the metabolism and is known to promote energy but is linked to heart palpitations and even strokes.
We covered synephrine supplements in an earlier investigation and were alarmed by their high risk of side effects and lack of proof for weight loss.
  • L Carnitine: An amino acid that helps the body convert fat into energy. Your body makes this substance in the kidneys and liver and stores it in the muscles, heart and brain.
Taking L Carnitine supplements can be effective for some medical conditions but there is no evidence that it helps with weight loss or boosts exercise performance. Source: http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/carnitine-lcarnitine
  • Taurine: Present in the human body where it is the major constituent of bile. It is an important acid, which has many biological roles. Early clinical research suggested that taurine improved mental performance. More recently, this claim has been disputed and more evidence is needed to prove it.

  • 7 Keto (DHEA) is also known as 7-ketodehydroepiandrosterone, or 7-oxodehydroepiandrosterone: It is a chemical produced in the body and it is believed to increase the speed of the metabolism, build muscle and increase the activity of the thyroid gland.
It may be effective for weight loss but according to scientific opinion, lacks clinical evidence.

So What Does All This Mean?

PhenApex contains ingredients that are mostly found in bodybuilder supplements because they are believed to build muscle, boost energy and increase endurance. Many of these ingredients lack clinical evidence and although they may be popular this does not mean they will work.

The lack of ingredients amounts is of serious concern. Synephrine is linked to heart palpitations and raising blood pressure as is L Phenylanine. In addition, we have no way of knowing if there are other ingredients contained in this supplement.

We are concerned with the safety issues as well as the lack of information provided by the company who offer no health warnings at all.

Does PhenApex Have Any Side Effects?

There are numerous potential side effects and many customers have reported problems. Here is a breakdown of many of the side effects, which we have taken from genuine customer reviews.

  • Hospitalised for a week following an allergic reaction
  • Head aches – very common
  • Vomiting and nausea -common reactions
  • Jitteriness
  • Stomach cramps
  • Bloating
  • Hospital following chest pains
  • Feelings of sluggishness – many customers reported this

Caution: Avoid if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Do not take if there is any chance you may be pregnant because L Phenylalanine is linked to causing birth defects.
Avoid if you suffer from a heart condition or have high blood pressure and do not take without medical advice if you are on any type of medication because of the risk of interactions.

Any PhenApex Reviews From Customers?

There is a lot of customer feedback available from PhenApex. There have been some positive reviews and many customers feel that this supplement has helped them lose weight.

I love these pills. Going to be ordering some more. Have lost 5lbs so far. Slow but steady. They do work you just have to be a patient and do a little exercise as well

And

This item is very good, the product is mild and I only take one and it carries me through the whole day. So it you are looking for a good product this is the ticked item for you. It definitely does not make you jumpy, the suppressant is nice and mild

Another customer praised the company as well;

Tried them for a week. great customer support. If you are going to buy these pills, remember they are weight loss supplements.

We guess she means that you have to make some effort with diet and exercise.

There are negative reviews.

I tried this and it did not help my Appetite like it said it would. It did not work for me

is a typical negative comment.

Some customers have also mentioned side effects. One customer said;

I don’t notice any increase in energy or decrease in appetite. I do notice I feel more sluggish and have a headache.

Other customers have reported nausea and vomiting.

It made me throw up unless I ate a lot beforehand so it kind of defeated the purpose.

The size of the pills seems to be a problem for some users who have made comments along the lines of “The pills are huge horse pills and are not easy to swallow”.

So Does PhenApex Work?

Despite the inadequate product and ingredients information provided by GS Labs, many customers are pleased with PhenApex and have lost weight with this supplement. Some customers have experienced side effects but many people have found no problems.

We have to say that PhenApex obviously works for some people and opinion is split around 50/50 positive/negative response.

PhenApex is not available directly to UK and international customers.

PhenApex do not offer an auto bill program, which is a point in its favour.

How About a Money Back Guarantee

No money back guarantee on offer.

Watchdog Verdict

We feel that one of the worst points about PhenApex is the lack of information and with no full label and no comprehensive ingredients list; you really do not know what you are taking. Some of the ingredients have potential health risks especially when taken in high amounts but we just don’t know the case here.

There is plenty of positive feedback though and many people seem satisfied. However, this is equalled by the amount of negative experiences so it seems that taking this supplement could be a risk to some.

With the lack of guarantee and insufficient information about contents there really is no question. We must reject this supplement.
