Watchdog Approved Diet Pills

A product that has been around for a couple of years now, Phentabz is a relatively high profile diet pill. It comes with some aggressive claims, and is touted as being the answer to all your weight loss needs. In fact they claim it’s “The worlds #1 Appetite suppressant and weight loss pill.”

Let’s have a look at Phentabz and the company behind it and see what all the fuss is about. Will it live up to the hype?

Phentabz Pros

  • Potentially contains effective ingredients

Phentabz Cons

  • (Very) Confusing sales page
  • No address provided
  • No guarantees
  • No clinical studies

Phentabz Facts

  • Based in Florida, USA
  • Sells through website, doctors and shopping malls
  • Lacks ingredient profile

Ok, straight away let’s have a look at the website for Phentabz and see what we can find.

At first glance, it’s a pretty poorly designed webpage in our opinion. For a company claiming to have the world’s best product we expected something a little better, but they may have gone for the cheap and ugly look deliberately. As we have seen many times before, a beautiful looking website does not mean the product is good at all.

We are hoping there might be a real gem hiding behind the front page, so let’s press on.

The overriding feeling from the home page is that they are trying to tout this as a real drug. There’s a ton of mixed messages and at the end of it, we were still not sure what Phentabz actually is.

They have some lovely sounding claims like “a true pharmacological diet pill’”, “pharmaceutical analog” and “Phentabz works like a prescription drug, but without a prescription.”

We think they are trying to create the impression it’s a proper “drug”, with FDA approval and all that goes with it …. but then again maybe not. See what we mean, confusing as hell.

We were no wiser after wading through the claims, deliberately confusing? Possibly.

Phentabz Warnings:

  • No address for the company clearly shown
  • No ingredient profile
  • No scientific evidence
  • Long list of potential side effects

What Does Phentabz Claim To Do?

As already mentioned, Phentabz claims to be the “The world’s #1”
Unfortunately this is a meaningless claim, as there are no terms of reference for this.

#1 for what? And measured on what scale? It could even be the #1 for failing to be effective for all we know, this is how ridiculous this claim is.

The big play they seem to be making is that Phentabz is available without prescription, they do this by comparing it with a “stronger” formula of theirs called Phentabz RX. This is supposedly only available from Doctors by prescription, however we could find no evidence at all that Phentabz RX is a FDA approved medicine.

We would hazard a guess that Phentabz RX is sold to Doctors only and they then sell these on to patients for a profit. This would be without a prescription, as it’s not a prescription only drug as far as we can tell.

This way they can claim that Phentabz RX is only available from Doctors. The “RX” usually signifies a prescription only medicine but there are obviously some very strict rules regarding this from the FDA.

We had a look on the FDA database but couldn’t find anything, either for Phentabz or for Phentabz RX;

Phentabz FDA search

On the site itself they have a couple of Doctors claiming to back Phentabz, but we found this quote from Mary Hoke ARNP, who runs a medical weight loss center;

We offer a non-prescription pharmaceutical that is only available through physicians.

But then in the website FAQ’s they say this:

Our original formula, Phentabz RX is still available by prescription only.

If you weren’t confused before then you will be now!

So is Phentabz RX a real drug that is only available under prescription, or is it something with “RX” on the label that is non-prescription and is sold through doctors?

If it really is prescription only then it surely needs FDA approval doesn’t it?

We’ve been doing this job for a while now, and have seen pretty much everything, but even we were confused when reading this website!

So What Is Phentabz and What Are The Ingredients For Phentabz?

There is no simple way of finding out what is contained in Phentabz. All that is mentioned on the sales page is that:

The formulation consists of FDA Approved ingredients proven safe and effective when taken as directed.

Ok great, they won’t even say what is in the product! This is one of our pet hates, how on earth can you make an informed decision when they won’t easily show you what the product ingredients are?

After a bit more digging around elsewhere on the Internet, we finally managed to find some details of what’s in Phentabz. We don’t think that anyone thinking of buying this product should have to do this, but for the benefit of anyone interested, this is what we found.

  • Octopamine – This supposedly provides long lasting energy and is found naturally in plants. One of these plants is bitter orange and is commonly used in a whole host of diet pills. This is because there are claims that it helps mobilize the release of fat from fat cells. What is usually missed out, is that this released fat is promptly taken up in to other cells! There is a distinct lack of verifiable research into Octopamine as a weight loss aid.
  • Methylhexaneamine – This was originally developed as a nasal decongestant back in 1944, but then fell out of favour for a while. It was resurrected as a dietary supplement in 2006 after Ephedrine was banned. It is derived from geranium oils and is said to be effective as a stimulant.
  • 1, 3, 7 Trimethylxanthine – This is a pharmaceutical grade of caffeine and is said to work in conjunction with the other ingredients to provide a fat burning effect.

So What Does All This Mean?

The most shocking thing is that they have failed to indicate what proportions of ingredients you would actually be buying. There is no indication what amounts are recommended to take anywhere on the website. This could be a deliberate ploy, as with other pills of this type they normally don’t include enough of the ingredients that have been shown to have any effect on weight loss.

By not listing the exact amounts of Phentabz, it is simply not possible to determine whether anything that they claim is even achievable.

Ask yourself why they fail to list the exact composition of Phentabz Diet Pills!

Does Phentabz Have Any Side Effects?

No studies have been done either into the effectiveness of Phentabz or indeed if there are any side effects from ingesting the mix that they have come up with. There could possibly be long-term damage to the body; at this stage it is impossible to say one way or the other.

Phentabz contains caffeine and other stimulants so anyone who is susceptible to the side effects of caffeine should be careful. The website actually provides a long list of people who should avoid it, including those with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or anyone with cardiovascular disease.

Any Phentabz Reviews From Customers?

There are a number of testimonials presented throughout the site but we have no way of telling how realistic these are.

So Does Phentabz Work?

Phentabz potentially contains some strong ingredients, but with no indication of how much of each ingredient then it is not possible to make an informed decision into whether or not it works. As they are using a “proprietary blend” then this stops us investigating any further. It would not be advisable to consume something if you have no idea what is in it.

Where Can I Buy Phentabz?

Phentabz is available online from the official site as well as a number of affiliates. They also supply Doctors; however it looks like the Doctors are simply buying these for resale. You do not need a prescription to buy Phentabz but they have given the impression that it is still a “drug.” It is also available to buy from selected shopping malls.

The website does not give the address of the company supplying Phentabz so it may prove to be difficult to contact them in the future.

What About a Guarantee?

Sorry, you are going to be disappointed if you are looking for a guarantee behind this product. There is no indication anywhere on the site as to whether or not you could get your money back if the product was not right for you. You may potentially suffer some side effects, but would then be unable to get a refund. Not good practice in our opinion.

Watch Dog Verdict

A massively confusing site with several mixed messages; no address details and a lack of a guarantee add up to rejection based on our criteria.

This could possibly be an effective weight loss diet pill but the negatives far outweigh the potential benefits in our opinion.

We suggest that the company undertakes a big overhaul of their site, before we could approve them. If they do that, offer clear address details, a proper guarantee and a clear ingredient profile then potentially we could look at them again.

I bought Phen Tabz thinking they might be like Phentermine and Phentramine( non prescription). But they did not suppress my appetite and caused me severe chest pains and pain in my left shoulder blade running down my left arm and hand. I tried them for two days but the pain was intense and I thought I was having a heart attack.

I called the manufacture Gentech and the customer service rep said unfortunately they can not take back an opened bottle. I will check with the place I bought them which was LA Fitness in Ft. Myers Fl. But I’m sure I’ll hear the same story.

I will make sure my friends don’t loose their money to this product.

Thank you for your insight to this product, I wished I had read your review before purchasing PhenTabz.

    Thank you

I have bought 2 bottles of Phentabz and I must admit they really did work for me with regards to losing weight! I had so much energy, so excersising wasn’t such a chore and wasn’t hungry really at all. However!!!! I felt relly edgy a lot of the time, became very aware of my heart, didn’t sleep much all of this has made me weary of getting them again (though I would like to as they really work!)

  3. suli says:

I was a little skeptical at first, but i went ahead and bought it you have to make sure its from gentech and any site selling it should lead you to the gentech page to purchase it if it doesnt then your getting ripped off. I honestly love this product im more motivated and i hit the gym every 5 days out of my week and i do make better eating choices cause it helps me fight the urge to eat junk food, i feel sorry for this review cause i dont even think this person even tried the product and really gave you guys an honest opinion, i think it works n i got a 4 pack for my sister for christmas and she is looking good and feeling more motivated but of course its not for everyone my sister only takes one pill a day instead of two but they recommend you take two to see fast results, but anyway i just wanted to say this works for me and im still taking them i’ll be hitting my target weight by march and i really recommend this product

Starting using Phentabz today…i’m not new to diet pills..and yes it’s working.
    Very pleased with results.

  5. Patricia says:

Phentabz are awesome. You can lose 5 lbs a week healthily. They are very effective and get better results than i had ever dreamed of. The website isn’t great, but the appetite suppression is, and thats what counts. I recommend them to anyone. If you went through the full process of ordering them and using them, you would get a more complete picture… So whoever writes this watchdog report has made a judgement just on the website. Ingredients state proprietary formulation of Octopamine, Methyl Synephrine HCL, 7 Methyltheophylline.

  6. Harold says:

I’m using Phentabz for two months and I loss 25 pounds. I try a lot of things, natural products, herbalife diet and nothing seens to work for me. This week I will start with exercise three days a week so I can get to my target weight is two months. Good product. Thanks

  7. Patricia says:

I am back 4 months later to report that I met my goal loss of 15 lbs after 5 weeks of using Phentabz. I’ve kept it off, and I am really pleased with the results. Phentabz marketing could do with a little makeover… That much agreed! But I’m in my size 2 leather Prada dress and that’s all that matters! Seriously I am in my 40s and have had a lifelong struggle with the last 10-15 lbs. I am delighted but also annoyed I didn’t discover Phentabz earlier. If your serious about losing some weight check it out. There is a really compelling testimonial on YouTube from an older Hispanic lady who cured herself of DBII by going on Phentabz. That’s a real story.

  8. jairo e says:

i work in the medical field, first day using this product, I will be reporting my experience every two weeks, aparentely this work well with MIC/nutraceutics or aminoacids

  9. Linda says:

I have taken this for several days and it has not decreased my appetite so far. I have not experienced weight loss yet but there are side effects like feeling edgy and jittery and going to sleep at night has been difficult.

  10. Renee says:

I have been taking PhenTabz RX and have had increased energy and moderate weight loss. I only take one tablet early in the morning because I can’t sleep at night when I take two. My question is; has anyone developed kidney stones while taking PhenTabz ?

  11. JoAnn says:

I had mixed experience with Phentabz. I used less than two bottles overall with a break of about 1,5 years in between. The first time I used it it really curbed my appetite and the only side effect was that it was making me jittery, so I reduced the recommended dose by half, which worked. I found the ingredients online and I need to admit I was a bit concerned about their potential hidden effect on my organism but overall I was feeling well. I need to say I did not loose weight on this product and it’s not why I bought it. It helped me to control a potential stress eating and hence maintain my weight in times of high pressure. The second time I used it it did nothing other than making me feel like I consumed too much caffeine… as if they changed the mix of ingredients.
I was considering giving it another try and I noticed that the company name changed; it’s Lexium International rather than Gentech. Does anyone know what happened? Is this the same product?
