Pure Saffron Slim Facts

  • Manufactured by NuTrim, Inc. Utah, USA
  • Each bottle contains 60 capsules
  • Auto-billing programme that charges $48 per month
  • Product NOT endorsed by Dr Oz

You only need a quick look at the official website to realise that there is VERY little information. In our opinion it’s very poor, with blurry images, simple spelling and grammatical errors.

Consumers should be fully aware that by ordering this product they are signing up to an auto-billing and auto-shipping programme. This means that you will receive a bottle and be billed each month until you contact them to cancel.

A quick look into the Terms and Conditions and you find the following:

By ordering today, you will be automatically placed into the members-only discount club where your order will renew at the reduced price of $48 per month until cancelled

There is little information about the manufacturer, in fact unless you read the terms and conditions it’s impossible to find it’s produced by NuTrim Inc based in Utah, USA. There is a Toll Free customer number only with no company address or details shown.

When digging for scam or rip-off complaints for this supplement we found a couple of reports from unhappy consumers relating to billing issues.

We should clarify the assumption that this supplement is anything to do with Dr Oz. It seems that many consumers have been led to believe or have mistaken Pure Saffron Slim to be associated with Dr Oz. This is most likely a result of the marketing and the promotion of this product. To be fair the official site makes no reference to Dr Oz except in a tiny disclaimer in the footer:

Dr. Oz does not endorse Pure Saffron Slim, but highly recommends the ingredients featured within the Pure Saffron Slim formula.

Each bottle of Pure Saffron Slim includes 60 capsules that are recommended to take twice a day. The manufacturer doesn’t make any recommendations for following a healthy diet or exercise programme.

Pure Saffron Slim Warnings

What Does Pure Saffron Slim Claim To Do?

In the few words seen on the official site, this supplement claims to:

  • Lose weight 3x faster
  • Boost your metabolism
  • Drop 2 sizes in 2 months

The manufacturers claim this “medical miracle unlocks secret to rapid weight loss” by…

Pure Saffron Slim claims

With a clearly displayed “medically approved” stamp and “US patented & clinically proven” statements, we can’t wait to delve into this Saffron Extract supplement in more detail!

So What Is Pure Saffron Slim and What Are The Ingredients For Pure Saffron Slim?

With no information about the ingredients in this supplement other than the tag line “100% pure saffron Extract” we can only assume this is the ONLY active ingredient in it.

We look at the science behind Saffron Extract a bit later, so what is it?

  • Saffron Extract (Crocus sativus L): A natural compound popular in cooking typically as a spice and used in some traditional medicines. Only recently it’s been suggested to have weight loss benefits as it’s reported to increase serotonin levels in the brain. It’s said that this mood regulating chemical helps to prevent overeating. No indications of the amounts used here though, so we can only speculate if sufficient quantities exist!

So What Does All This Mean?

The manufacturer is relying on the recent media exposure of Saffron Extract to encourage consumers to buy this product.

There is no indication of what’s in it, how much and who makes it.

Does Pure Saffron Slim Have Any Side Effects?

No side effects are mentioned by the manufacturer. WebMD suggests Saffron Extract is “safe for most people” as long as you’re not taking large dosages.

It’s unlikely there are large amounts of Saffron Extract in this supplement.

Caution: As with most diet supplements we would suggest avoiding this product if you’re less than 18 years of age, are a breastfeeding or nursing mother, and have any pre-existing medical condition.

Any Pure Saffron Slim Reviews From Customers?

We’re received a few consumers far from happy with this supplement but what about other independent reviews?

Hmm unfortunately we struggled to find much consumer feedback, positive or negative.

So Does Pure Saffron Slim Work?

It’s impossible to tell!

There is NO ingredient profile without ANY indication of amounts either.

If we skip over the fact we don’t know exactly what’s in it or how much, let’s take a look at the science behind Saffron Extract.

The study that probably triggered the interest in Saffron Extract by diet pill manufacturers was published in Nutrition Research in May 2012, here is the study here:

This 8-week study looked at a test group consumed 1 capsule of Satiereal (twice per day (176.5 mg extract per day). After comparing the placebo and the test group results showed that snacking frequency had reduced and greater weight loss was evident in the group that consumed Satiereal.

This is the basis for many “Saffron Extract” supplements on the market. There are some incredibly important facts missing that should be pointed out:

  1. Snacking frequency was subjectively measured by participants themselves, calling the accuracy of this measure to be questioned
  2. Appetite suppression wasn’t immediate but took 4 weeks to start
  3. Although weight loss was significant only a few pounds were lost

The implications of these often ignored “facts” is that you will need to supplement your diet with Saffron Extract (in the amounts shown in the study) for at least 2 months to experience little weight loss.

Where Can I Buy Pure Saffron Slim?

Pure Saffron Slim is only available to consumers living in the US and Canada.

The original price was a staggering $89 for 1 month’s supply, now it costs a more reasonable $48. Discounts are available for multiple bottle purchases.

Consumer Alert: Ordering this supplement will mean you agree to signing up to an auto-billing and programme. Once your order is finished you will have a new bottle shipped to you every month at the cost of $48.

What About a Guarantee?

There is a 30-day return policy that requires consumers to obtain a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number within 30 days of the invoice date and the product HAS to arrive at their fulfilment center within 30 days too.

There is a re-stocking fee of $5.95 per bottle returned too.

Watchdog Verdict

Without any clear idea of the ingredients, not to mention how much, we’re relying on blind faith that this supplement works.

There are few customer testimonials and no links to clinical studies to support the claims made.

The biggest factor that put us off is the auto-billing programme that means your hooked into paying monthly for this supplement until you cancel. It’s easy to see how unwittingly consumers may sign up not realising this although the official website highlights this fact.

You may lose weight taking this supplement but the unknowns are just too much for us and so we reject Pure Saffron Slim.

One of Oprahs drs Dr Oz Promotes this and yet you reject it. He should not be promoting something unless it 100% works. He’s just another con artist.

    • Kathryn Bubenchik says:

Nope – he’s not the con artist. Actually, the research for pure saffron extract is there and scientifically proven. This product is different and some scam artists just took Dr Oz’ video of the show and it made it seem as though this particular product is one he recommended. You see an ad for weight loss with headlines that Dr. OZ recommends this, then you click on it and it takes you to a website not affiliated with Dr. Oz in any way. Who even knows if this product contains what it claims. This is an on going scam for any celebrity bringing anything new to light on TV… next thing you know a new product emerges. Caveat emptor!

  2. Joan Hansen says:

I am returning 6 bottles of Saffron Slim and I am feeling like a foolI thought I was ordering a sample bottle. I will try and contact my credit card and refuse the charge. There were no charges listed in the package. I am POed

    • Chuck Adams says:

      Hi Joan,
I have 2 bottle to send back that I never opened and on my packing slip it doesn’t mention how to contact the fulfillment center.Any help would be greatly appreciated .

      • Jen says:

I have done the same thing ;( I called my card and tried to cancel after I saw the bill, I thougt I was ordering 1 and got 5. I wasn’t able to cancel and the comany said I couldn’t canel until the billing went through. Anyway, here is the address you return to: Address the return package to:

        Attn: Fulfillment Center
RMA # (initial Order #) You have to call them to get this number
        6330 North Washington Street #8
        Denver, CO 80216

  3. Anne says:

I am also a fool Joan. I hope you have success, I’m usually more cautious, what an expensive screw up.

  4. Donna C. says:

I talked by phone to someone from Pure Saffron Slim. He said the product info isn’t
listed, as the only product in it is pure saffron – nothing else has been added. He also said I don’t have to receive automatic shipments if I don’t want them. I was surprised to see you promoting another brand (Phentaslim), which causes me to ask if you have a vested interest in that product.

  5. Bobbi says:

I was on the website to get information re: pure saffron slim and could not find the price. I had to enter my cc. info. in order to get the price, (I should have known). I did not like the price and tried to find a way to exit but no dice, so I just closed out the website and shortly after I was sent a bottle and charged $48. There was no return address and I did not see a way to return it to sender. I decided to try it since I had the bottle. I saw not difference in my weight. A month later 3 bottles arrived and I was charged 90 some $. I took this up with my credit card co. and the rebuttal made it clear there was no way I would be able to get my money back. My only recourse now is to let everybody know about this scam.

  6. Ali says:

I ordered the pure saffron diet pills and forgot about it because I had a heart attack soon after. I did not take any pills after that because I thought it would affect the meds I was taking for my attack. Lo and behold I just saw my credit card statement and found I was billed for another shipment but I found their phone number and called and cancelled the auto shipments. When I get the shipment I will return them as well. What a scam!!!!,!,!

  7. Kathleen says:

Where did you find the phone number? I’ve been trying to cancel, but can’t find a number or a way to contact them to cancel. I too thought I was ordering one bottle to try it out (they initially sent me 3 bottles) and before I realize I had officially ordered it, I was somehow put on a monthly supply. Ugh! Life is so crazy w/ work and two kids, that I haven’t had time to call the bank. I guess I will be doing that on Monday. However, in the meantime, could you share the number you called??? Thanks! :-)

  8. Kathleen says:

Got the number: Toll Free Customer Service phone: 1-866-288-1910

The gal was surprisingly nice. She recommended getting a tracking number when I return the product. Good luck to you all.

  9. Jan says:

Oh Please, what a scam and what a fool I was for falling for this deal.
Hopefully, I was able to cancel remaining shipments by calling
1/866-288-1910. Waiting to see if company will credit me as promised.

  10. KJM says:

I just tried to call the 1-866 number and it not in service. NOW what do we do if we were suckers for this?

  11. Flowerthyme says:

I just called the 1-866-288-1910 number and they were very nice. The guy said he could credit my account 25%, for the 2 bottles they had sent and then I wouldn’t have to return them. Also, this would cancel out the monthly service. Very polite.

  12. janice says:

Was wandering if you have a number for Australia that I can call, I made an order an they won’t stop trying to take money off me, I have tried to find a number with no success

I immediately rang my bank to cancel my card and luckily enough the scammer had entered my expiry in incorrectly so the money had no completely transfered. 22. Jess M says:

I am another sucker of this ploy and based in Australia. I’ve just read through peoples comments to see that they will return monthly or something? Is the only way to cancel this to change my credit card? I’m with Commonwealth so thinking I’ll just need to order a new card? Is this the case?

  23. Sharon F says:

Feeling foolish also… Just ordered and as I live in Australia looks like I will be having one long drawn out issue with this. Anyone that has any info on the aussie contact details please post. Just shows how much we all want and need to loose weight and will latch onto any opportunity.
