Slim Sip Review
Slim Slip Facts
- Slim Sips is a diet drink containing Glucomannan
- Each packet contains 30 sachets – 10 days supply
- Marketed by High Street TV- a TV shopping company
Slim Sip is an effervescent diet supplement. You simply add the contents of a sachet to a glass of water and the result is an orange flavoured fizzy drink that you take before meals. According to the product advertising Slim Sip will reduce your appetite and as a consequence your weight. In addition, it will help you maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
This supplement contains just one active ingredient – a natural fibre product called Konjac Glucomannan. Konjac is a root plant that grows in Japan and looks similar to a yam although the species are unrelated. It is used in Japanese cuisine and is valued for its gelatinous texture rather than its taste. Konjac root is a natural source of Glucomannan – a soluble fibre that the body cannot digest. The advertising behind Slim Sip claims that this fibre helps weight loss and so far, clinical evidence for Glucomannan looks promising.
The key factors about Slim Sip state that this supplement:
- Helps you feel fuller for longer
- Reduces feelings of hunger
- Absorbs fat in the stomach
- Natural fibre & vegan-friendly
- Proven to reduce weight
- Helps to maintain cholesterol
If you are looking for a supplement that does not affect your mood or energy levels and simply provides some support with restricting your appetite, it may be a good choice.
How to Take Slim Sip
Dissolve one sachet in a glass of water and drink straightaway with 1-2 glasses of water to ensure it reaches the stomach. Take 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals.
Slim Sip is sold in the UK from various retail outlets including High Street Chemist Boots and Amazon.
The manufacturers are named by Boots as High Street TV based in Harrogate Yorkshire. This company sell a wide range of products which are advertised on TV shopping channels including Sky 648.
The company claim to sell the hottest TV products from around the world. These include toys, tee shirts, beauty products and DIY and gardening equipment. However, we could not find out who makes this supplement and where.
The label is marked New Image but we could not find a record of this company making Slim Sip. We feel that Boots are misleading customers a little by stating that High Street TV is the UK based manufacturer. In truth, there are no details about where it is made and whether or not the manufacturing process conforms to regulations or safety standards. This information is simply not available
Slim Sip Concerns:
- Potentially dangerous if not taken with adequate water
- May pose a choking risk
- Lack of product information regarding ingredient amounts and place of manufacture
What Does Slim Sip Claim To Do?
According to the product information on the Boots website, Slim Sip works in three ways:
- Action # 1: High Viscosity Gel Once hydrated in water, Glucomannan forms a high viscosity gel which expands its volume. This triggers a signal to the brain telling you that your stomach is full which delays hunger signals and controls your appetite.
- Action # 2: Fat-Trapping Magnet. Dietary fats and oils are trapped from absorbing into the blood stream.
- Action # 3: Cholesterol maintenance. Food moves slowly through the digestive system helping glycemic control and triggering re-absorption of bile acids, which helps decrease blood cholesterol. Glucomannan contributes to the reduction of body weight & the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels when used in the context of an energy-restricted diet.
- Glucomannan: This the sole active ingredient and is a pectin-like, indigestible fiber believed to cause weight-loss. Because the stomach cannot digest Glucomannan, it stays in the gut for a long time and creates a feeling of fullness and an appetite suppressant effect.
Glucomann has been studied by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) who looked into all the claims and the evidence for this ingredient. This lengthy report concluded that there was a “cause and effect relationship between the consumption of Glucomannan and the reduction of body weight in the context of an energy restricted diet”.
The claims relating to Glucomannan and the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations have also been assessed with a favourable outcome
However there was no evidence that proved the claims for “glycemic control” so it seems that this ingredient will not affect blood sugar levels as the advertising for Slim Sip claims.
EFSA report that, “at least 3 g of Glucomannan should be consumed daily in three doses of at least 1 g each, together with 1-2 glasses of water before meals, in the context of a calorie-restricted diet.” in order to get any effect from this ingredient. With the lack of ingredients information there is no way of knowing whether Slim Sip contains adequate Glucomannan in order to achieve the benefits.
You are advised to use Slim Sip in combination with a healthy balanced diet.
So What Is Slim Sip and What Are The Ingredients For Slim Sip?
Slim Sip is a weight loss drink in sachet form that is described on the label as “Food Supplement With Glucomannan And Sweeteners”. Ingredient amounts are not provided but each drink contains just 26 calories and 27g per fibre per 100g.
The ingredients list is listed as follows:
Acidity regulators, citric acid, sodium bicarbonate; konjac Glucomannan, flavour, anti-caking agent: magnesium oxide, sweeteners: sucralose, acesulfame K; colour beta- carotene.
So What Does All This Mean?
Glucomannan comes with evidence that it will help reduce appetite and cholesterol and as a result may be a way to help you lose weight. However, the EFSA are very specific in their advice about the quantity of Glucomannan you need to take in order to lose weight. This vital information is not available for Slim Sip and we have no way of knowing how much of the ingredient each sachet contains.
In addition, hunger and appetite are not the only reasons for weight gain. We eat for pleasure in many cases and feeling full up does not stop us from snacking on treats.
Another point to remember is that including more dietary fibre in the shape of fruit and vegetables and wholegrains will also have a similar effect of making you feel more satisfied after eating. Fibre is lacking from many people’s daily diet and you may find that introducing more of this will help you lose weight without the need for a supplement.
Does Slim Sip Have Any Side Effects?
It is important to ensure that you take Slim Sip with plenty of water to avoid posing a choking risk. The product information warns:
Risk of choking for people with swallowing difficulties or when taken with inadequate fluid.
However, Glucomannan is considered safe if taken in powdered form with plenty of water as here. There appear to be very few side effects but some customers have complained of bloating and increased visits to the bathroom.
Avoid if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Seek the advice of your doctor if you are taking medication because of possible interactions.
Do not take if you have any problems with swallowing. Ensure you drink plenty of water in order to wash this supplement down.
Once you open the sachets use immediately to avoid the risk of the supplement expanding in the oesophagus.
Throw away any sachets which have been opened.
Any Slim Sip Reviews From Customers?
Yes, and the good news is that there appear to be very few side effects. Some customers have been extremely pleased with Slim Sip,
I’m only on day 3 and I’ve lost 4lb I was a picker and ate a lot of junk food. After half an hour of taking drink, I have a meal and I am not hungry in between meals so no more picking. I couldn’t be more happier cause I struggle to diet but finding it so easy with slim sips.
Great product that me and my wife used easily and daily. Another great thing was that it helped us increase our water intake SO much! I easily got in at least a gallon of water each day while using Slim Sip. Easy for anyone to use!
I found the item great just what I wanted the weight loss was just what I wanted I have lost almost a stone already I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to lose weight.
However, not everyone is as happy,
Absolutely useless, made no difference to my appetite at all.
Rubbish product do not bother with this, it doesn’t work!!!!
So Does Slim Sip Work?
We think Slim Sip may be worth a try. There is evidence that suggests that Glucomannan is effective for weight loss and this supplement has received some positive reviews. However, we would have liked to have seen a full ingredients list to ensure that Slim Sips conforms to the recommended dosage amounts.
Many of the customers who have experienced weight loss while taking Slim Sips are making the effort to lose weight themselves. This supplement may add some support but it probably will not do as much if you don’t follow a healthy diet and exercise plan.

What About A Guarantee
No money back guarantee is offered.
Slim Sips is a Glucomannan supplement that may help you lose weight by restricting your appetite. This ingredient is backed with some clinical evidence and as long as you take it with plenty of water, it seems safe and does not appear to cause side effects.
However, Slim Sip does not look like the best Glucomannan supplement on the market. We are not told how much of the active ingredient it contains and the country of manufacture is unknown. We expect better from Boots!
Many reviewers have said that weight loss is real but slow and in addition, it has not worked for everyone. Our major concern is not with the active ingredient but this supplement. There are other Glucomannan supplements which look better and provide a complete ingredients profile.
Although we feel that Slim Sip may be worth a try the cost may be prohibitive with 10 days supply costing £19.95 – making one month an expensive £58!
For now we do not feel it is quite good enough to add to our approved list and so reject Slim Sip.
