Slimula Facts

  • Produced by E & E Neutraceuticals
  • 60 capsules per bottle
  • Costs more in the UK than the USA

Slimula is a diet pill, which has been developed by New York Company E &E Nutrition Corp. It is advertised as being 100% natural and as not containing any banned substance, this is not surprising. The ingredients of this diet pill are not clearly explained, however, it does contain chromium picolate and vitamin B12 alongside the propriety formula. This formula contains a range of the usual suspects including Hoodia, Caffeine and Citrus Aurantium.

To use, you simply take one – two capsules, once or twice per day. You should take the first capsule when you get up in the morning and again half an hour before lunch or dinner. You are advised to follow a high fibre low fat, low carb and low sodium diet , take exercise and drink six to eight glasses of water a day.

Slimula is well established on the market, so there is customer feedback and this is a mixed bag of opinion. Some people like it but there is a high proportion of negative comments about this pill and in particular complaints about the side effects of sickness nausea and jumpiness that it can cause.

Slimula appears to be the only product marketed by E and E and worrying is offering a free trial period of the diet pill over 30 days. Although this sounds like a positive benefit, free trials in the diet pill industry are notorious for being difficult to get off.

You sign up and receive your first bottle of 60 capsules for just $4.95 + postage and packing. The company then bill you for $39.95 at the end of the month. According to product information, you are then free to cancel the agreement should you wish.

You can also sign up to the VIP Membership plan, which combines the 30-day guarantee, and a regular shipment of Slimula sent to your door. Failure to cancel will result in a regular billing cycle until you do.

We have found that some of these auto ship programmes are very difficult to cancel so this is a matter or real concern. However, Slimula offers other methods of payment and you can use PayPal or a one off payment to buy and it is also available from Amazon and other third party sellers. You do not have to sign up for the “free trial” or for the VIP package to buy.

Slimula Concerns:

  • Untested ingredients may not be safe
  • So called free trial is tricksy with charges of $19.95 for return shipping
  • You may be caught in difficult to cancel auto ship programme if you choose the VIP buying option

What Does Slimula Claim To Do?

Slimula advertising claims that this diet pill delivers five key benefits. According to the website, Slimula helps in:

  • Reducing and suppressing your appetite
  • Getting rid of excess fluids
  • Promoting energy and mental alertness
  • Increasing metabolism
  • Enhancing metabolism making your body burn fat and calories faster

According to the website;

Slimula is formulated with herbs and Nutraceautical extracts that stimulate and support the various elements of the central nervous system, the circulatory and excretory systems and endocrine gland function

This language is not easy to understand and we feel is deliberately employed to give a confusing and scientific sounding explanation. Stimulating the excretory systems sounds as if it causes increased bowel movements and the endocrine gland function relates to hormones.

There are no medical endorsements or any proof given for the efficacy of the ingredients or this diet pill. The manufacturer does not give any clinical proof or explanation to how this diet pill works.

So What Is Slimula and What Are The Ingredients For Slimula?

Slimula is a fat burner combined with an appetite suppressant and it may help increase alertness if the advertising is to be believed. The diet capsules contain the Slimula formula combined with patented supplements.

Each capsule contains:

  • Vitamin B12 (50mg): Water-soluble vitamin which helps promote healthy brain and nervous system function and for the formation of blood. B12 is found in bacteria and algae and is a form of yeast.
  • Chromium picolate (50mg): A mineral supplement often used in the bodybuilder world because it is believed to increase the metabolism and burn off fat. Although it has been found to have some positive results on cholesterol, the effects on people taking supplements long term may pose a potential health risk and this requires further study.

604g of Slimula formula, which contains the following ingredients;

  • Caffeine: Most diet pills contain caffeine and it can help speed the metabolism and reduce appetite. Caffeine can cause side effects of jitteriness and anxiety in high quantities. Supplement quantities are not known.
  • Hoodia Gordonii: Once considered the greatest thing to hit weight loss, the effects of Hoodia have now been largely discredited. Animal testing has suggested that Hoodia does not affect weight loss but is safe and does not cause birth defects.
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22410261
  • White Willow Extract Salicylic acid is often used as a topical treatment for acne and is also the natural root for the aspirin when taken internally. No major weight loss effect.
  • Citrus Aurantium Extract: Also known as bitter orange extract, or synephrine, it raises the heart beat and blood pressure and is often used as a substitute for a well known banned ingredient. A clinical trial carried out in California demonstrated “no statistically significant benefit for weight loss and provided limited information”.
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15541270
  • Yohimbe Extract: Has been marketed as an aphrodisiac and body builder supplement and it was believed to play a role in fat reduction. It can be dangerous and lead to acute neurotoxity, causing a rise in heart rate and blood pressure combined with vomiting and nausea.
    Source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19640235
  • Evodia Extract: Natural extract taken from south Asian fruit Evodia and used in herbal medicine. This ingredient is largely untested on humans and may stimulate heart and decrease blood pressure but may play a role in medicine. Requires more clinical trials to assess safety and efficacy for its effect upon obesity.
  • Senna: well know natural laxative derived from Senna pods found on the castor oil plant. An old-fashioned remedy for constipation that will cause diarrhoea.
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid Is being tested for its role in diabetes and it may have an effect on insulin and the function of the pancreas. It looks promising but remains unproven and untested on humans.

So What Does All This Mean?

Slimula may not be as safe as the manufacturers claim. Too many of the ingredients remain untested and unproven and some, like Yohimbe are a cause for concern. The ingredient profile is inadequate and a big problem is that you will not know what you are taking or how much of it.

There is no clinical proof offered by the company and this pill lacks any real medical advice or any indication about the specific quantities of each ingredient. Most of the ingredients contained in the formula have not been thoroughly tested on humans and may cause serious side effects.

Does Slimula Have Any Side Effects?

According to consumers, Slimula does come with side effects. Many have complained of feelings of extreme nausea and vomiting.

“This product made me sick to my stomach,” is a typical comment. Another said, “They sure don’t work as they say they do. Made me really sick and I was unable to take them”.

One customer review went into more detail:

I have to say that this really gives you energy. So much that a lot of people may not be able to handle it (anxiety, jitters, shakes, rapid heartbeat, etc). This stuff DOES make you jittery and shaky, but it also makes me not want to eat. I am hungry, but I just don’t feel like eating

The first day I took it I thought for sure there must be something illegal in it. I felt like I had just done speed or meth or something. My heart was RACING…

Slimula claim that their product is safe but this is not what a large number of consumers have found. The company advise only that you should take medical advice if you have any health problems. There is more advice on the label than the website and this states that you should avoid if you suffer from high blood pressure, or have heart, kidney, thyroid or prostate disease or are taking mao inhibitors.

Caution: Avoid if pregnant or breast-feeding, have high blood pressure, or heart, kidney, thyroid or prostate disease. Can interact with other medication.

Any Slimula Reviews From Customers?

Reviews are mixed and although some customers have lost weight and enjoy the jittery effect of these diet pills, a large percentage have experienced headaches and sickness. A few reviews have reported no effect at all and that they have not lost weight nor suffered side effects.

One positive reviewer said,

I like Slimula it’s a strong product it gave me a big boost I would recommend it to anyone who is trying to lose weight

By contrast:

I did not see any change at all at all levels. I do not really think it works

A real matter of concern to us though is the testimonial photos. Of the six customer photos shown three of them we have seen previously on other diet pill sites!

So Does Slimula Work?

It might work for some people. However, it may not be a safe product and may lead to side effects.

Many of the ingredients have not been tested on humans and it is unapproved by the FDA. There are much safer ways to lose weight than with Slimula.

Where Can I Buy Slimula?

You can buy Slimula direct from the product website if you are in the USA, and it is also available on Amazon.com. It is now newly on sale on Amazon.co.uk so is available to British customers.

Slimula costs $59.95 for a bottle of 60 capsules from the product website. You can make savings with larger orders and although there is a “free trial”, we do not recommend this option.

Slimula retails at around $29.95 from Amazon.com sellers. It is much more expensive from Amazon.co.uk. One bottle of 60 capsules costs a whopping £51.90, more than twice the cost of the comparable product bought on Amazon.com.

What About A Guarantee

The company offer a money back guarantee but be warned this is not free. You will have to contact the company within 30 days in order to obtain a Product Return Authorization Form (PRAF) and you will have to pay shipping costs of $19.95 and ensure returns are packaged correctly. The company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to reject any return that does not comply with these requirements.

Despite this, there does not appear to be too much negative feedback surrounding the guarantee. Please note it will not apply if you buy through a third party site or from Amazon.

Watchdog Verdict

We weren’t exactly blown away by Slimula. It contains untested ingredients that may well cause side effects for many people.

Although some consumers enjoy these, the diet pills may not safe and we do not recommend them. For UK customers the price is extremely high and the return shipping costs, which must be paid in the case of the guarantee, are excessive and tricksy.

In such a tough market place we believe more is required from a diet pill than is on offer here, and so we reject Slimula diet pills.
